Shelter & Transitional Housing

Emergency Shelter
Our emergency housing provides homeless families with shelter, support services and case management for up to 120 days as we help them work towards independence and permanent housing.

In Northern Arizona, because other agencies provide shelter to single mothers with children or to single men and women, we focus on two-parent or single-father-with-children families. We are the only shelter in Northern Arizona that allows fathers to stay with their families as they seek assistance.

There is no charge to clients during their stay, however, they are required to begin and maintain a savings plan while in the program. Clients may then move into their own permanent housing or, if they still require supportive services, into our Transitional or Permanent Supportive Housing.

Transitional Housing
Our transitional housing program provides long-term shelter for 12-24 months to homeless families who are sufficiently stabilized to achieve a level of independence, but still in need of some support services. We focus on employed or employable single- and two-parent families, a majority of whom have completed an emergency shelter program.

To prepare our homeless families for true independence, they pay rent based on a maximum of 30 percent of their income although utilities are included. They continue contributing to their self-directed savings plans and attending weekly on-site skill-building classes, including parenting, budgeting and employment.

Empowering Our Clients
Both our emergency and transitional housing programs go beyond mere shelter to provide life-skills classes, case management and transportation to appointments and interviews. We empower our families by teaching them how to advocate for themselves, set their own goals and build the resources to reach those goals.
